Game Of Thrones: 15 Biggest ‘Holy Sh*t!’ Moments So Far
7. Tyrion Is Attacked
Despite Tyrion's successful decimation of the majority of Stannis' fleet, thousands of his men are able to land and engage the Lannister host on the ground. The battle is not going well for Tyrion, and he only just avoids being decapitated by a mace. There is a slight pause in the fight, and Tyrion meets the eyes of Ser Mandon Moore, a member of Joffrey's Kingsguard. Tyrion gives half a smile, but Ser Mandon raises his sword. Before Tyrion has the chance to do more than register alarm, Ser Mandon slices him across the face. Tyrion falls, and just as Ser Mandon stands over him to strike the final blow, Tyrion's squire Podrick Payne drives a spear through Ser Mandon's throat. Tyrion bleeds on the battlefield, and all goes black.
6. Three Blasts
Early in Season 2, we learned that lookouts of the Night's Watch have a way of alerting the other men to approaching parties. When they blow a horn once, it means that rangers are returning. When the horn blows twice, wildlings are approaching. When it blows three times, the White Walkers march. The horn has not blown thrice for a thousand years, says Sam, but that is the only reason why the horn would ever blow three times. By the end of Season 2, Jon has gone off ranging with Qhorin Halfhand, leaving his friends behind to scrounge for supplies in the wasteland around the Fist of the First Men. Grenn, Edd, and Sam root around for animal droppings to use as fuel when they hear the blast of a horn. At the sound of the first, Sam jovially announces that Jon and the Halfhand must be returning. At the sound of the second, Grenn draws his sword and declares that they will make a stand against the wildlings. And then, a third blast echoes out over the snow. "RUN!" bellows Edd.
Fiction buff and writer. If it's on Netflix, it's probably in my queue. I've bought DVDs for the special features and usually claim that the book is better than the movie or show (and can provide examples). I've never met a TV show that I won't marathon. Follow on Twitter @lah9891 .
