Games Of Thrones Season 7: What 'Beyond The Wall' Really Means
6. The Plan To Kill The King

Buried in the incredibly tense final sequence - after The Hound made it VERY easy to call him an idiot - Beric Dondarrian basically realised that his calling is to take down the Night King, and he formulated a plan to destroy the wight army by cutting them off at the head. The heroes now know that killing the lead White Walkers also kills the wights they control.
That maps out the plan for when Jon and Dany can convince Cersei to unite against the White Army - cut off the head and the body will fall. It would be simple, if it wasn't for the fact that the Night King probably isn't all that easy to kill.
It could have just been a question of getting Dany to flambee the White Walkers all at once, but she didn't think to get her dragons to do that, and now we know the Night King's ice spears can kill a dragon, that's going to be a hell of a lot harder. But at least they know how they'd theoretically deal with him.
Next season, Beric is going to die attempting to do just that, incidentally.
