Games Of Thrones Season 4: 20 Most Hotly Anticipated Moments

5. Lady Stoneheart

The death of Catelyn at the Red Wedding was shocking because of how both brutal and sudden it was: in an instant, two of the main characters who we€™ve known since the beginning of the series were gone. Those who only watch the show understandably assume that Catelyn, like all other casualties, is gone for good. However, book readers know that this isn€™t the last time we see Catelyn. Having had her body thrown into a river by the Freys, her corpse is happened upon by Beric Dondarrian and the Brotherhood Without Banners. As you know, Beric has been brought back to life six times by the Lord of Light, and seeing what has happened to Catelyn, Beric actually sacrifices the rest of his life to bring her back. Catelyn awakens, but she is not the same: she is now Lady Stoneheart, a shell of her former self; her skin is pale and shrunken, and she can barely speak due to the horrible gash in her throat. Consumed by hatred and revenge, she takes over the Brotherhood and has them hunt down everyone who wronged her and her family. The reveal of Lady Stoneheart is significant for two reasons: not only does it bring back a major casualty of the Red Wedding, but it adds another piece to the mystery revolving around magic, specifically the Lord of Light. What purpose does her resurrection serve, if any? What role will she play in things to come? This moment would be an amazing way to close out season four, so much so that it would be a crime not to. The audience will go nuts seeing her come back. If incorporated into the season, the reveal of Lady Stoneheart will surely be one of the most memorable moments.
