23. Its All Over
(Asian F, Season Three) Mercedes' frustrations at constantly being under appreciated by the glee club boil over and she falls up with Will after he makes her take extra dance lessons with Mike and Brittany. In a Dreamgirls fantasy sequences, the rest of the glee club reprimand Mercedes' for her attitude, yet she is determined to stand her ground, leaving her cast out from the New Directions. Fortunately for her, she gets her sweet revenge by joining the new glee club at McKinley, the one with Shelby Corcoran as the director. I liked that the song incorporated several different characters, something that doesnt happen very often and it is interesting to finally see Will called out for playing favourites with Rachel. He pays the price by losing one of his strongest singers.
22. Waiting for a Girl Like You
(Pot o' Gold, Season Three) In an, otherwise, abysmal episode, Puck, and his trusty guitar, is a guiding beacon of hope. Now that Shelby is back in town and teaching at McKinley, he begs her to spend time with Beth. Quinn, on the other hand, has gone of the rails and is determined to get Beth taken off of Shelby so she can have her. However, for once, Puck is being the sensible one and bonds with Shelby and Beth during one of her bedtimes. Its a welcome change to the usual one-dimensional bad boy. Also, Puck really does have one of the best male vocals in the show, yet it is rarely showcased.
21. One Hand, One Heart
(The First Time, Season Three) As the McKinley High glee club gear up for the yearly musical, West Side Story this year, Artie makes Blaine and Rachel paranoid about their virginity and makes them doubt their ability to play characters that are sexually awakened in the play. In typical Glee fashion both decide its now or never and go about trying to turn on their respective partners. After several mishaps and faux pas, both couples eventually get to the business during a montage of Rachel and Blaine singing as Tony and Maria. The show handles the topic sensitively, for Glee, and the final scene definitely pays off.
20. Rumour Has It / Someone Like You
(Mash Off, Season Three) Santana's dodging of her sexuality is unfortunately forced out into the open thanks to Sue's dirty campaign tactics (she is running for Congress) which results in an opponent running a commercial exposing Sue for using a lesbian student, Santana, as her head cheerleader. Driven, by embarrassment and tension, out of the New Directions, Santana joins Mercedes in Shelby's Troubletones. Mercedes and Santanas tones work amazingly together and the Troubletones prove a formidable enemy for the New Directions. However, even after a stellar mash-up of two Adele hits, Santanas paranoia gets the best of her. She is convinced she is being talked about by Rachel and Finn, so lashes out at Finn in desperation.
19. Girls Just Want to Have Fun
(I Kissed a Girl, Season Three) After Santana's outburst, Finn is concerned for her and, given that she was his first, determined to help her come to terms with her sexuality. His acoustic version of Cyndi Laupers 80s smash hit, is a disarming plea to Santana to be honest with herself. Given that she has little choice, due to Sues opponents commercial, she decides to talk to her grandmother first. However, she does not take the news well and rejects her. Nevertheless, Santana is at least able to be honest with her friends in glee, thanks to Finn.
