Gotham: 10 Reasons Why It’s A Bust

3. No Superheroes

After Batman emerges as a tactful and effective vigilante, the city fills with costumed civilian crime-fighters. The reason that you read comics and watch films and shows associated with them is to see these heroes in action. So far, Gotham has shown no heroes outside of Jim Gordon (who will never wear a costume). Robin, Oracle, Nightwing, Azrael, and Huntress are just a few of the masked heroes that appear in Batman's world. It would be wise of the show to include at least one crime-fighter with a mask within the series. This criticism may be premature as the show is only half way through its first season, but there is not even a hint as to anyone other than Bruce Wayne fighting crime about 20 years from the current timeline of the show. Showing a fully costumed and capable Azrael would be a slight departure from the comics, but it would provide Bruce with inspiration for his journey and it would give you something to feel hopeful for in the future of the series.
