When we last saw Jonathan Crane back in the show's first season, he wasn't really doing all that well. He'd suffered at the hands of an abusive parent who'd taken it upon himself to test the first version of the infamous fear toxin on him, and now, well, he doesn't seem to have reacted all that well to it, really.
The teaser for season four placed a great deal of emphasis on Crane's burgeoning development as the Scarecrow we all know and fear, and it looks as though Crane will be sporting a distinctly Nolan-esque look this time around. Granted he's got those snazzy looking fear gas... things, but still, that mask looks like it's been ripped straight from the set of Batman Begins.
Scarecrow's guaranteed to have a massive role this year, so expect to see some horror elements during the season premier.

John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
