Gotham Series Finale: 7 Easter Eggs & References You Might Have Missed In 'The Beginning...'
4. Julie Newmar's Catwoman
When viewers were reintroduced to Selina Kyle, they discovered that she was now a grown woman who had fully committed to a life of crime in Bruce's absence and, as a result, an early version of Catwoman had been born.
Showcasing her flexibility, she evaded security lasers as she made her way towards a secured diamond. However, when she reached her destination, she extracted the target by using her claws to carve a circular hole in the glass container.
This was undoubtedly a callback to the first appearance of Julie Newmar's Catwoman from the classic 1966 Batman TV series, as the feline femme-fatale stole a valuable cat statue by doing the exact same thing.
Since then, the tactic has become a common trait of Catwoman, with the character going on to do it in both comics and on-screen animation, so it's nice to see Gotham paying tribute to the first ever TV Catwoman by having the latest channel her approach to stealing.
