Establishing the status quo of any show is notoriously difficult for writers, but it's much harder for those who pen comedy series'. Not only do these guys have to introduce the characters and the setting of the show, but they also have to inject humour into the situation. As noted here, Happy Together's first outing was pretty successful in this department. However, there is always room for improvement, which something the writers are clearly aware of, as the comedy is much stronger in the second outing.

Scrubbing is a superior episode overall, and it wastes little time getting straight into the humour. From laugh-out-loud moments like Jake and Claire's simultaneous dialogue, to the equally brilliant scene where Jake's inability to throw away his old belongings comes to light, Happy Together seems to have found the right balance between comedy and drama. Cooper's notoriety within the show is also explored a little, and with any luck it'll be used more moving forward, because it provides for some great satire in Scrubbing.
