Hawkeye: Kingpin Alive? 8 Details You Missed In The Finale
1. Sometimes Family Doesn't Always...
"...see eye to eye" was what Kingpin said to Maya before she shot him offscreen during Hawkeye's Christmassy conclusion. Though its reception was mixed, the general consensus implies that Wilson Fisk's business is not finished. What some fans may not realise is that this scene is quite comic accurate and even the quote shares direct connections to some source material.
During David Mack's Daredevil Vol 2, Echo realises that Matt Murdock was not the killer of her father and it was in fact Kingpin himself (similar to the MCU's Ronin conflict). After finding this new information out, she confronts Fisk in an alleyway and shoots him in the head. This doesn't in fact kill the behemoth but blinds him instead, and it doesn't take long for Fisk to regain his strength and continue with his plans.
Following MCU Kingpin's super-human fight scenes, a single gunshot would most definitely not slow him down. As explored in Daredevil, Fisk’s clothes are actually revealed to be made bulletproof entirely, meaning Echo’s bullet would probably just knock him over. Instead of this, his return may actually introduce a new Wilson Fisk with one eye or completely blind. In fact, the direct quote Wilson says in Hawkeye could allude to this happening by repeating the words 'eye'.
