Hawkeye: Kingpin Alive? 8 Details You Missed In The Finale

2. His Father's Cufflink

During the finale, as Kate finally pacifies Kingpin by flicking his cufflink into the dangerously marked arrowhead pit, we get a perfect slow-down shot of the signature cufflink. Once belonging to Wilson's father, Bob Fisk, the cufflink means a lot more about this new version of Kingpin.

The cufflink in question features a textured metallic base with a prominent dark gem located in the centre. Netflix's Fisk often resorted back to fumbling with them whilst making a decision or thinking solemnly to himself. Whilst a scene like this is also featured in Hawkeye, his choice to wear those specific cufflinks is what brings more information to light surrounding the MCU version of Kingpin.

After a young Fisk snapped and beat his father to death with a hammer, his mother gifted him these dark accessories after taking it off a deceased Bob Fisk. As Wilson progressed through his climb of the crime syndicates, he persistently wore the cufflinks as a darkened reminder. However, when Wilson opens up to Vanessa about his origins during Daredevil, she professes her undying commitment to him alongside changing Fisk's style choice. Vanessa picks out a different cufflink design, featuring a square metal base with dark strokes as decals, establishing a new era for Fisk.

Therefore, during Hawkeye, as we get a close up look at the cufflink Kate flicks, we can rightfully assume that the MCU's Kingpin has yet to meet Vanessa. Whether or not this was a plot choice planted by Marvel or just a small stylistic detail, the purposeful inclusion of the slow-motion shot doesn't seem to be fortuitous.
