House Of The Dragon - Every Main Character Ranked From Worst To Best
1. Daemon Targaryen
George RR Martin has never been shy about his love for characters that dwell in the grey areas of good and evil. It speaks volumes therefore, that of all the fictional men and women the legendary author has ever conceived, plausibly one of the greyest he has ever brought to life is House of the Dragon's enigmatic Rogue Prince, Daemon Targaryen.
To say that Daemon is mercurial is akin to saying the Hulk is mildly irritable. Viewers legitimately never know which version of the former heir to the throne they are going to get. Will it be the Daemon who tenderly helps his dying brother to the throne as his strength fails him, or the brooding villain who crushes the skull of his estranged wife without uttering a single word? The audience's guess is as good as any, the only certainty is that it makes for absolutely blockbuster viewing every single time.
Daemon has been must-see television from the second he swaggered onto the scene during a bloody purge of King's Landing's criminality in The Heirs of the Dragon. His single handed charge on the Crab Feeder, Vaemond Velaryon's decapitation and the Prince's smirkingly aloof presence interspersed with razor sharp one-liners have been indispensable staples of House of the Dragon's burgeoning success. Daemon is flawlessly played by Doctor Who alum Matt Smith; the British actor never fails to provide a blisteringly cool take on Fire and Blood's most emblematic name.
The Rogue Prince isn't just the best character on House of the Dragon, he's one of the most exciting and memorable new faces to hit screens in recent memory.
