7. Zoey Pierson
Despite being such a passionate hopeless romantic, Ted has had some pretty girlfriends over the years, one of the worst of whom has to be activist Zoey Pierson, who spends the sixth season trying to tank Ted's architectural dreams.
Played by a worryingly poor Jennifer Morrison, Zoey's main characteristic is that she doesn't want Ted to destroy her favourite building. Even though they have nothing in common and are constantly at each other's throats, they fall for each other.
The ensuing romance is forced and overwrought drama at its worst, exacerbated by the fact that Zoey herself is impossible to find in any way endearing. Manipulative, inconsistent and boring, her entire persona feels tacky and unbelievable.
All-in-all, Zoey never so much feels like a real character as she does a really overused plot device to shake up the core gang's dynamic and highlight just how bad Ted is at choosing his relationships. What a waste.
