It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia: The Gang's Most Outrageous Exploits From Each Season

9. Mac Day (Season 9)

Mac€™s latent homosexuality, seemingly obvious to everyone but him, gets played up more and more as the series goes on. His obsession with muscles, hatred of women and codependent relationship with Dennis are the biggest clues, but a visit from Mac€™s openly gay cousin from the country makes the rest of the Gang realize just how repressed and annoying Mac actually is. On Mac Day, everyone in the Gang has to do whatever Mac wants. This involves a lot of praying, greasing up beefcakes before a bodybuilding competition, and watching Mac get his ass kicked in a karate tournament. The Gang€™s day is saved by the arrival of Country Mac, played by Seann William Scott, who is everything Mac isn€™t: carefree, secure in who he is, and an honest-to-goodness daredevil. Most episodes revolve around the Gang splintering into different alliances. In €œMac Day,€ it€™s everyone else in the Gang against Mac. It€™s a fun dynamic that lets the more pleasant side of the Gang emerge, particularly when Country Mac gets them all high. Unfortunately, Country Mac dies just as he€™s about to be initiated into the Gang, and Frank€™s first act on Frank Day is to flush his ashes down the toilet.
