It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia: The Gang's Most Outrageous Exploits From Each Season

4. Sweet Dee€™s Dating a Retarded Person (Season 3)

There€™s a theory that says many shows peak in their third season. Sunny is no exception, fully hitting its sadistically gleeful stride in the very first episode and never losing it throughout. Picking a highlight in Season 3 is like picking the best song on a Beatles album. But if you must make a selection, it€™s hard to go wrong with €œSweet Dee€™s Dating a Retarded Person.€ In the episode, it seems Dee has finally found a good man. He treats her well and he€™s an up-and-coming rapper named Lil€™ Kev. Everything is going great until Dennis tells her that Lil€™ Kev is mentally retarded. Dee and Dennis investigate Lil€™ Kev€™s life, adding points in the categories of €œNormal€ and €œRetarded€ as Lil€™ Kev displays his "retard strength," drinks from a juice box and laughs hysterically at cartoons. Meanwhile, the rest of the Gang puts together a band for a concert at Paddy€™s. Charlie€™s ability to play piano and his character the Nightman are introduced, but he, Dennis, Mac and Frank can€™t agree on a band identity. They do agree that the best way to become rock stars is to smash up a hotel room. At the concert, everyone bombs until Lil€™ Kev takes the stage and responds to Dee directly: €œThis gravy train€™s leavin€™, so who€™s retarded now?€
