Legion: 9 Ways It's A Totally Unique Comic Book TV Show
4. You'd Barely Even Realise It's An X-Men Series
A lot has been written about Legion being an X-Men TV series, from the pondering of whether we might got an appearance from Charles Xavier to the endless headlines questioning and theorising about how it may or may not fit into the X-Men cinematic universe (easy answer: it doesn't).
And yet, for all the focus on it in the build-up, watching the series you'd hardly be aware that it is supposedly an X-Men TV show, save for stray mentions of the word "mutant" and that little 'x' in the title.
There's no civil rights allegory here, no team needing to be led, no Charles Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. If David Haller is searching for something, it probably won't take him to Professor X. Other shows can shove the references to the movies and comics down your throat (a lot of the time it works to be fair, sometimes it doesn't), but Legion is just happy blazing its own path.
