Legion: 9 Ways It's A Totally Unique Comic Book TV Show

3. Questioning What Is Real

Is this real? Or is it in my head?

It's a question that Steven's David asks repeatedly, but he may as well be filling in for the audience when he does so, because we're not given any strong indication either way about the true nature of what it is we're watching.

The show endlessly flicks between the real life and David's fantasy, or at least our/his notions of which is which, as well as flitting between the past and present, cutting from scene-to-scene, location-to-location in such a manner that we don't truly know what is going on anymore.

Indeed, it's all a matter of perception anyway, and the only reality that matters is that which David believes in. It's a far cry from the grounded reality (contextual reality, anyway) of other comic book series, and something that could prove equally frustrating and exciting as it progresses.
