Loki Episode Four: 10 Biggest Questions
1. Who Created The TVA And The Time Keepers?
It was established as early as episode one that the Time Variance Authority is the greatest power in the universe. Run by the almighty Time Keepers, the TVA governed the entire concept of time across the universe, with the three space lizards at the head of the operation.
Until they were actually seen in episode four, there were many theories that they weren't even real. This was confirmed in a sense when Sylvie chopped one Time Keeper's head from its shoulders, only to find that it was some sort of robot.
This was wonderfully foreshadowed in the first episode when Loki was scared that he was a robot without knowing it, yet still no one saw this coming.
This led to the biggest question of all, going into the final two episodes:
Who created the TVA?
Clearly it wasn't the Time Keepers as they were a fabrication. Renslayer seems to be a strong candidate until you realise that she used to be a Hunter. Why would she bother working her way through the hierarchy of the organisation if she was leading it from afar anyway?
In much the same way that WandaVision theories kept pointing to Mephisto, fans have come straight back to Kang the Conqueror. Would there be a better fitting character to have created the Time Variance Authority, giving him complete control over the entire multiverse and different realities?
This is exactly what Kang seeks in the source material, he has a close relationship with Renslayer, and was alluded to with her old moniker of Hunter A-23.
Kang made his debut in Avengers #23, so if this doesn't ultimately signal the villain's franchise debut, I don't know what to believe anymore.
