Lucifer: 10 Most Heartbreaking Moments From The Series

In a show with as many seasons as Lucifer, killing off a main character is inevitable. While Dan's death wasn't necessarily predicable, he was the obvious choice for the metaphorical chopping block.

Dan is often a controversial character among the fandom, but even then no one can deny that his death was one of the most painful moments in the series. Him getting shot in the back, and then bleeding out in Chloe's arms wasn't just heartbreaking, but straight up cruel.

The worst part of his death though wasn't the death itself, but rather its repercussions. Watching all the characters we had come to know and love, especially Trixie, mourn him can only be described as emotional overkill.

You don't really know what you have until it's gone, and that describes Dan perfectly. Even though he later came back as a ghost, in the moment of his death we were lead to believe that we'd never see him again. He made mistakes, a lot of them, but he never once stopped trying to be a better person no matter how much pain he had to endure.

Dan was a good man who screwed up more times than he was proud of, but that doesn't make his death any less soul-crushing.
