Marvel's Iron Fist: 10 Spoiler Free Reactions To First Six Episodes

4. It Lacks A Truly Compelling Story

Iron Fist Review 2

This is something that could really change as the show heads into its second half and things start to unspool more, but through the first six episodes the show doesn't do a great job of telling a compelling and coherent story.

It's begins centred around Danny's battle to get his company back from Ward and Joy, and then into a tangled web of shadowy organisations, infiltration, and boardroom struggles.

It's well-worn territory, and Iron Fist doesn't bring anything particularly fresh to it, nor does it offer much to suggest this could work over an entire season. Netflix shows often having pacing issues, and even the likes of Daredevil and Jessica Jones have been guilty of it, but this one is particularly slow going right from the off. The most intriguing wrinkle would be K'un-Lun, but so far the show is very much going down the 'tell, don't show' route.

Hopefully things will pick up in the final seven episodes, maybe with episodes that really explore K'un-Lun and flesh out the bigger story behind Rand Enterprises. Right now, though, it's a fairly middling tale.

In terms of sub-plots, there's a little bit more going on with the story of Harold, which holds some intrigue because his character is harder to predict, and Colleen Wing, who is a relatable figure with struggles you can more easily get behind.
