Marvel's The Punisher: 10 Perfect Stories Netflix Could Adapt

5. In The Beginning

In The Beginning was the third Punisher relaunch that Garth Ennis was behind. The two previous relaunches took place under the Marvel Knights imprint, and this was the first one within Marvel's adult-only MAX banner. This Punisher was not funny, there wasn't a hint of spandex and this was not a superhero story. That's what makes it perfect for Marvel and Netflix.

In The Beginning features Punisher's long-time partner and friend Microchip turning on him and turning him over to the mob. There are already rumours that Microchip will feature in the show, so this could very much be the story we're going to see unfold on Netflix whenever The Punisher makes its debut.

The story is gritty, violent, dark and exhilarating, everything the Marvel Netflix universe has set itself up to be. Rather than a faceless group of mob villains for Frank to face off against, In The Beginning gives us an antagonist in Microchip that the audience will love to hate with their entire being. Of course, we'll still get a mountain of faceless mob villain bodies for Frank to tear through on his way to his former friend.
