Marvel Cinematic Universe: Ranking Every Upcoming TV Show By Anticipation
9. Luke Cage: Season 2
Release Date: TBA
Like Slingshot, this week also brought with it the surprise announcement that Luke Cage has been renewed for a second season. Of course, with so much else on Netflix and Marvel's plate right now in 2017 alone and the previously-announced new seasons of Daredevil and Jessica Jones beyond that, we probably won't be seeing Luke Cage's next season until 2018 at the earliest.
With Luke and Danny "Iron Fist" Rand set to finally meet one another in The Defenders, many had speculated that future seasons of both their shows would instead blend into one singular Heroes for Hire show, so it's all the more intriguing that Luke will be out on his own again. Characters like Danny and Jessica will undoubtedly turn up, but Luke's first season left quite a lot open for the character to deal with that likely won't be covered in The Defenders.
Aside from the fact that Mariah Dillard and Shades are still out and about and Diamondback is all set for an upgrade, Luke has no shortage of problems ahead of him for season two. That's without considering the fact that all-new villains will certainly turn up in Harlem, with anyone from Nightshade to Tombstone a viable candidate to stir things up. Whatever goes down, hopefully season two can learn from season one - namely the issues inherent in the jarring narrative switch from Cottonmouth to Diamondback - while retaining its soulful personality to deliver an even better run for the character.
