6. Matt Murdock Meets His Mother

In the closing moments of "Cut Man" we see Battlin' Jack Murdock placing a call to a woman who's identity is never revealed, pleading with her to look after Matt should anything happen to him. It seems highly likely that this is Matt's mother, Margaret, who in the comics abandoned her son to become a nun.

Originally appearing in Daredevil #229 during Frank Miller's classic 'Born Again' storyline, Sister Maggie has maintained a rather distant relationship with her son, appearing sporadically throughout the decades, and it wasn't until Mark Waid's run on the title that a reason was given for her abandonment.

After giving birth to Matt, Maggie suffered from a serious bout of postpartum depression. Fearing that she might harm her son, she left young Matt in the care of his father and sought counsel for her disorder, eventually finding refuge in the church. Years later, when questioned about the details of her departure she revealed the truth to Matt, apologizing for her abandonment. In a truly touching gesture of love, Matt told his mother that he harbored no ill will and admired her courage and perseverance.

With the back story of Matt's mother still open for exploration, it would be truly surprising if it wasn't eventually touched on in later seasons.
