Marvel's Daredevil Season 3: What Does The Ending Really Mean?
2. Introducing Dr Oyama (And A Link To X-Men)
Bullseye isn't the only big reveal at the very end though, because there's the not-so-small matter of the person operating on him: a certain Dr Oyama.
In the comics, Oyama is the one who developed the process of merging adamantium to bone, a procedure that most famously resulted in James Howlett becoming Wolverine, but was also used on Bullseye too. Adamantium isn't mentioned here as Fox still has the rights - instead it's referred to as "Cogmium steel" - but the reference to Oyama is still a big deal.
For starters, he's also known as Lord Dark Wind, a Japanese crime boss who could well have his eyes on Hell's Kitchen after Fisk's incarceration. The Cogmium, meanwhile, means Bullseye will return with enhanced abilities. But bigger than both of those is that Oyama is a link to the X-Men, and by the time the fourth season of Daredevil happens, Disney will own Fox and, as such, be able to use the X-Men in the MCU. The bigger stuff will be saved for the movies or Disney's own streaming service, but the references here suggest the Netflix shows will be thrown an adamantium bone.
