1. Who Is Sigourney Weaver Playing?
Marvel fans' jaws hit the floor when it was revealed that movie legend Sigourney Weaver had been coaxed into joining the cast of The Defenders. Not only that, but she is in a key role as the main villain of the piece. The question is, then, just who is she playing?
If we believe those previously-discussed rumours, she could be Mephisto - which would be a very unexpected casting choice to say the least. That said, it must have been an impressive role to entice the actress away from Hollywood. And who could pass up the opportunity to play the Devil?
If it's not Mephisto, then another leading contender is a revamped version of Typhoid Mary. In the comics, Mary is a lover/enemy of Daredevil's with telekinetic powers and multiple personality disorder. If this is the case and Marvel can fashion the character into a three-dimensional threat - ala Mariah Dillard in Luke Cage - they could be on to a winner.
