Marvel's The Punisher: 9 Reasons It's A Disappointment

Early in Marvel's The Punisher, Micro is present as Frank Castle's old war buddy Curtis Hoyle patches him up. The Punisher has been shot by an arrow, which remains embedded in his arm. The only way out is through — Curtis needs to cut open Frank's arm and pull the arrowhead out.

During this scene, Micro looks as if he's going to lose his lunch. Curtis warns him to hold it together. Micro is a hacker by trade, not a blood and guts guy. He's not "hands on" as his wife makes intimately clear to Castle earlier in the show.

Not until later in the season, in the penultimate episode "Home." There, Micro is suddenly an experienced cutman, and even has a reason as to why: when he was a kid, he played surgeon for all the wounded animals in the neighborhood, stitching up squirrels and birds and any other injured beastie he came across.

Zach Lieberman, meanwhile, goes from budding bully to dutiful son overnight. While that can be explained in part by dad coming back into his life, it's still shaky writing.

The Liebermans are not alone. Sam Stein goes from flirting with Madani to combative to protective of her seemingly dependent on the weather, while Madani's mentor Rafael Hernandez can't seem to figure out if he's a tenured spook or a dopey father figure.
