MCU: 10 Netflix Mistakes The Disney Plus TV Shows MUST Avoid
6. Pointless Additions To The Character Roster
As a consequence of over-long seasons, extra characters were often added who really did not need to be there. Obviously, when a show develops, new characters come along. But there's a difference between adding a cool new villain like Luke Cage's Bushmaster or Jessica Jones' mum, and shoving in a sideline addition who ultimately does nothing to enhance the story.
This can be a frustrating development, especially when done in a second season. Fans often go into a new series seeking some meaty resolve, and anything besides that only serves as an unwelcome distraction. It's kind of obvious that this was done primarily to fill in the run-time. And as the future of the shows were often on a knife edge, pilling in extra content of this nature was a gamble which really did not pay off.
Disney Plus would benefit from doing the opposite, by keeping the roster neat and inclusive. It would be wise to let the core character lineup expand only when the relevant show is a certified success, upon which they can then build accordingly and sensibly.
