MCU: 10 Netflix Mistakes The Disney Plus TV Shows MUST Avoid
5. Show An Unwillingness To Take Any Real Risks
The Netflix Marvel shows swiftly set a precedence, and on the occasions that they did think outside of their own box, it was very rewarding. Remember when Heroes for Hire almost happened, or when Matt Murdock dropped his Daredevil garb for an entire season, or when Luke Cage turned kind of evil?
But more often than not, such dynamic deviations from the story never really took place and so plot development was sparse. It would have been nice to have a few more nice surprises to change the course of the narrative, but the stories would still, by large, reach the same predictable outcome over and over.
For better or worse, that sense of progression is essential to a long-running TV series. And it can only happen to true effect if, at some stage, the story or the characters take a big directional leap.
If Disney Plus decide to tether all of their characters to one scenario, then they will largely be making the same mistake Netflix did. Putting conventions on the line to shake up the narrative is a worthwhile risk and should always be considered.
