After 20 years since the release of the Cowboy Bebop Movie, the beloved anime series is finally finding new light in the form of a Netflix live-action adaptation. This is something that has been in the pipeline for a while now, as many fans have been clamouring for the series to find its footing in reality for ages. It's definitely an exciting time for Bebop fans, but that excitement does come with a few drawbacks.
Adapting animated projects into live-action often fails more than it succeeds, as catching lightning in a bottle twice is challenging, and you're working with an entirely new medium. The likelihood of this new Bebop series being good isn't as easy to determine yet as many fans would hope, as there's just as much promise to it as there are concerns.
It's safe to say that no matter what happens, it will be fun to watch, as we will either get a faithful reimagining of the show or a train wreck and internet backlash that's just as enjoyable. Still, what are the potential pros and cons?
