Netflix Trese: Every Supernatural Creature Explained
7. Sigben And Shifters
The Sigben in Trese are werewolf-like creatures that assist Anton Trese, though they don't bear as much resemblance to their folkloric roots as others in this list.
In the series, the sigbin that fight alongside Anton Trese and act as his bodyguards are more like werewolves, able to shift from human to giant dog.
Their names - Puti and Bantay - are a play on some of the most popular names for dogs in the Philippines, with the name Puti simply meaning "white" and Bantay meaning "guard".
Many shapeshifters that go between animal and human exist in Philippine folklore, with the Aswang and Tikbalang able to change forms depending on the circumstances, with Aswang even said to hide amongst real dogs.
The sigben, however, are most commonly known not as shapeshifters, but as grotesque creatures that look like hornless goats with gigantic ears.
They have a giant tail and walk around with their heads tucked under their back legs, and are known for its tendency to suck blood out of humans and eat the hearts of children.
