3. The Strong Ensemble Cast

Though the show categorically belongs to Lance Reddick, the large ensemble cast generally does a bang-up job trying to sell the material as best they can.

First and foremost, rising Brit actress Ella Balinska gives a strong performance as the older Jade Wesker, even while stranded in the more underwhelming half of the story.

In the 2022 timeline meanwhile, Tamara Smart and Siena Agudong are compelling POV characters as Jade and Billie Wesker, their pulsing fear over seeing the beginnings of an apocalypse palpable in every moment.

And despite being saddled with a relatively mediocre character, Paola Núñez gives the role of Evelyn Marcus her all, imbuing her with an edgy sass that's as amusing as it is dangerous.

All in all the cast aren't to be blamed at all for the series' shortcomings: everybody's clearly doing the best they can under the circumstances.
