Netflix's Tiger King Review: 8 Things We Learned

1. Old Feuds Die Hard In The Wildlife Buisness

It's truly hard to describe just how heated the feud between Carol Baskin and Joe Exotic is.

What starts as a simple disagreement on different standards for keeping wild animals, becomes a full-blown legal battle, before metastasizing into Exotic literally wanting his rival dead, ultimately leading to his imprisonment.

Throughout the course of the series, Exotic gets increasingly more vexed with Baskin and is seen repeatedly airing his frustrations on his internet talk show, in which he actually shoots an effigy of Baskin on several occasions.

Another scene shows Joe travelling down to Florida in order to protest outside Baskin's sanctuary with a group of his workers.

Initially, it appears that Joe's claims of wanting Carol dead are just part of his morbid sense of humour but as the show goes on it appears that he may just be serious.

The show culminates with Joe offering a worker at his zoo and friend of Jeff Lowe $3000 to travel down to Florida and kill Baskin. Joe was later convicted on two counts of murder-for-hire, eight violations of the Lacey Act, and nine of the Endangered Species Act.

In January of 2020 Exotic was sentenced to 22 years in prison, though he is currently campaigning for a presidential pardon from US President Donald Trump.
