Only Fools And Horses: 10 Times Del Boy Was ALMOST A Millionaire

5. A Bunch Of Wallies

The scheme:

Del Boy's been a lot of things over the years, but it's easy to forget he tried to be a music manager not once, but twice.

Long before Tony Angelino, Del tries to take advantage of a band Rodney becomes a drummer in, A Bunch Of Wallies, fronted by 'Mental' Mickey Maguire (name tells you everything you need to know about him). In the series four episode, 'It's Only Rock And Roll', Del spots the opportunity to make some easy cash by hiring the band to gig at an Irish club on St Patrick's Day. With Del as their manager, it should have been the start of the Trotters' journey to stardom.

What went wrong:

If only Del had stuck with them. It was his own greed for a quick earner that stopped him with this one.

The Irish gig goes horribly wrong and ends in a fight, before it's later revealed new instruments Del had supposedly got for the band were all on sale or return, making it clear he was only interested in exploiting them for that one show. It's then that Rodney defends Del and is kicked out of the band.

Some time later, the group - minus Rodney - are spotted on Top Of The Pops with a new single that looks like it's going to No.1. Poor Rodney.
