Orange Is The New Black Season 4: 9 Reasons To Be Excited

Although Piper is still ostensibly the lead character of the show, we're a long way from the days when she was the core of everything on OITNB. It may have started out that way, but it's continuously expanded over the past couple of seasons to the point it is a true ensemble piece, and in fact Piper isn't the most interesting character on the show.

Still, she is a very important one, and we're going to continue the development that started last year. While before she was generally still a good person, she's started really embracing her criminal side now, and that will only get worse in Season 4. In the trailer she discusses feeling unsafe, which may mean she's in danger herself, but also that she starts acting dangerously in response.

The other thing to note is that we should expect to see slightly less of Piper than before. With an expanding cast, that's no surprise, and it means she should have a smaller but more interesting and focused arc.

There's also the fact that she should be coming towards the end of her time in prison soon, and the showrunners will need to do something big in order to keep her around in Litchfield a while longer.
