Peaky Blinders: Each Main Character Ranked From Worst To Best
4. Michael Gray
Polly Gray's son and cousin to the Shelby siblings, Michael is a hugely ambitious member of the Peaky Blinders. Bored of the life he has with his foster family, Michael inserts himself into his blood family's lives and business in Season Two. He is close to the age of John, but is far more calculating and intelligent.
He is most like Tommy than anyone else on the show, which creates a complex relationship between the two men. Michael works his way up the ranks quickly, and by Season Five Michael is looking to take over as head of the family.
It's fascinating to watch his resentment of Tommy grow subtly and his fractured but loving relationship with his mother keep him subdued. Since marrying Gina, he has a new found confidence and is accelerating his takeover plans.
Of all the characters, where Michael goes in Season Six is the most intriguing as it is strongly hinted he will take on a more overtly antagonistic role. Given the fact he has spent five seasons as an ally and friend of the family, and has a mind for business and planning that can only be rivalled by Tommy's, Michael could potentially make for a villain that will best even Inspector Campbell.
