Public DomainH.P. Lovecraft's occult investigator could easily feature in a young incarnation here, perhaps getting his first taste of the dark side that would compel him to undertake the many adventures he will later on go on to have in Lovecraft's stories. Perhaps having him as a young ward for Sir Malcolm Murray would be a good way to introduce him. His plot arc could end after one too many brushes with the other side causes Malcolm to send Carter off home again. The events of the show would act as a gap in Lovecraft's timeline for the character. Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Jojen Reed in Game Of Thrones) would be perfect as the young man with an inquisitive older mind. Also, the character himself would serve as a great gateway character for the audience, something the show is sometimes lacking.
