After Arrow's reviled fourth season came to an end, the show made one of the most impressive comebacks in recent memory with Season 5. While the new storylines were compelling and the new characters were intriguing, one of the main reasons why it worked was down to its villain - Prometheus.
Fans were initially cautious to hear that the show would be introducing yet another archer but Prometheus made short work of our fears. His sword-wielding and expert fighting skills made him the perfect antagonist for a show like Arrow. There was no corny dialogue or cringe-worthy plots and instead, we got a thrilling mystery with a genuinely frightening Big Bad. Thanks to this, the series once again became that gritty crime drama that it had been in its first two seasons.
However, the thing that made Adrian Chase so compelling were the reasons behind his destruction. Unlike Darhk, he didn't want to take over the world or destroy it - his goal was much more personal than that. Prometheus was a dark and vicious avenger born out of Oliver Queen's past sins. He studied his target and grew close to him, watching his every move. And this allowed him to always remain one step ahead of the Green Arrow. It was, quite simply, the stuff that comic book fans' dreams are made of.
