Ranking Every DCAU Show And Film Worst To Best

10. Static Shock

Justice League Fatal Five
Warner Bros.

Static Shock first hit screens following the turn of the century and (along with Batman Beyond) kick-started a new modern era for the DCAU, which saw the introduction of new heroes and younger characters.

Centering on young Milestone Comics character Virgil Hawkins (who obtains electromagnetic abilities after being exposed to chemicals), the show was notable for being the first of DC's animated properties to include an African-American protagonist. It also received praise for refusing to shy away from important social issues, as much of its central storylines focused on both gang and gun violence.

Its light and upbeat approach always provided levity when necessary and, although the mix between witty dialogue and mature issues didn't always hit the mark, it was elevated by the strong narratives that the DCAU was renowned for producing.

Without a doubt, one of the most underrated animated offerings to grace our screens, it's really no surprise that the show developed a cult-following after it concluded. It's just a shame that it didn't get to produce a few more episodes during its run.
