8. Batman Beyond

Justice League Fatal Five
Warner Bros. Animation

Following the end of The New Batman Adventures, Warner Bros. decided that they weren't quite done with this legendary version of Batman yet and so created another spin-off sequel set within the same continuity. This time, however, it would be set decades in the future and focus on the rise of a new Dark Knight.

With Kevin Conroy returning to voice his most iconic role, the futuristic series saw an aged Bruce Wayne recruit Terry McGinnis to ultimately protect Neo Gotham from the next generation of evildoers.

What made this one so special was that the whole thing was very much uncharted territory for the character. There were no comics to go off, so the concept was entirely fresh and original and this ultimately gave the writers a lot more freedom to just go crazy with what they had.

With a futuristic appearance, sharper animation, cyberpunk undercurrents and a fun line-up of new characters, Batman Beyond set itself apart from all other DCAU properties, introducing Batman's legacy to a new generation as it took something vintage and updated it to make it more, for lack of a better term, "schway".
