7. Superman: The Animated Series

Justice League Fatal Five

Following in the footsteps of The Dark Knight himself, the Man of Steel headlined his own animated series in 1996 in what was the very first spin-off of Batman: The Animated Series, essentially confirming that there was a world outside of Gotham City in the DCAU.

Under Bruce Timm's tutelage, Superman borrowed a lot from its darker predecessor, utilising its characters to tell surprisingly mature stories while also employing a strikingly similar style of animation. Furthermore, it brought together some of the most recognisable aspects of both the classic and modern interpretations of the character to produce a ton of compelling narratives (many of which were tied to Kal-El's origin story).

On another note, Tim Daly's voice portrayal of the titular character is second to none and, like Kevin Conroy's Batman, the actor become synonymous with the character.

It never gets the appreciation that Batman: The Animated Series does (and it probably never will), but that doesn't mean that the Man of Steel's animated adventures aren't noteworthy.
