Red Dwarf X: 10 Reasons To Be Excited

3. Back in the Red

Most of the items on our list so far have harkened back to the golden days of the Dwarf. Utilizing models, relying on stories and characterization, not relying on gimmicks for ratings, returning to a specific type of sci-fi and filming in front of an audience---these are all things that made Red Dwarf special in the first six series. Fan reports from filming tell us that the show is returning to its classic formula. All of this is adding up to let us know that we are indeed back in the red (not to be confused by the episode of the same title). This reason---possibly more than any other---is what we€™re getting excited about. We haven€™t seen a Red Dwarf that gave us gags and sci fi since series VI. This return to the greatness that made us fans in the first place; that made the show a success means that series X could be the best Red Dwarf since 1993.
