Rick And Morty: All Season 1 Episodes Ranked

M. Night Shaym-Aliens! is certainly one of the most mind-bending episodes of Rick and Morty. For a show featuring infinite realities and constant inter-dimensional escapades, that's saying something.

The episode sees Rick and Morty abducted by an alien race called Zigerions, and placed within a virtual simulation of Earth, all done to try to trick Rick into disclosing the formula for concentrated dark matter. Of course, it turns out to be a "simulation in a simulation in a simulation", which is enough to confuse anybody. This confusion actually benefits the episode, as it can be seen as clever enough to bamboozle not only the audience, but Rick, who is said to be the smartest man in the multiverse.

Meanwhile, Jerry (who the aliens accidently abducted and placed in the simulation) has been completely hoodwinked into believing that everything is real. By the end of the episode, he has managed to win an "Appley" award for his apple advertising slogan, "Hungry for apples?". A ridiculous subplot, but nonetheless a pleasure to watch.

A witty and entertaining Rick and Morty adventure of the sort they need to do more of, combined with a Jerry subplot that really adds to his arc and his character, M. Night Shaym-Aliens! is a fun alien story with great character development.
