Schitt's Creek: 10 Best Standalone Episodes

2. Turkey Shoot - S1E7

Schitt's Creek
CBC

There's barely a second of Turkey Shoot that's wasted. From its lukewarm open involving a frantic David unable to dispose of a particularly threatening-looking bug, to Moira's respectful but still brutal rejection of Jocelyn's signature hairstyle, this episode showcases how the show's first season hooked so many loyal fans.

David tries to be sociable with the Schitt's Creek townsfolk, for once without alcohol, and the annual turkey shoot. It's certainly a far cry from his days curating avant-garde exhibitions, so he is suitably out of his depth. It turns out that a man uncomfortable with squishing an insect isn't an unexpected prodigy at taking out wildfowl.

The Roses are outside of their comfort zone, but that's where personal growth begins. The family have spent most of their lives in the lap of luxury, set in their ways, and with no motivation to change for the better. The day might be a bust - David is no hunter and Moira is not one for a layered perm - but if you don't try new things, you'll never know!
