Scrubs: All Main Characters Ranked Worst To Best

2. Christopher Turk

Scrubs Cast
NBC

Turk - played by Donald Faison - took all of the same qualities as JD but condensed them, so they weren't so frustrating. He was idealistic and childish, but also severe and thoughtful when he needed to be, and as such, he perfectly encapsulated the vibe of the show.

The character at first felt like a side-role to the leading figure. Being presented as the best friend of the protagonist isn't a terrible place to find yourself in a sit-com, but Turk ended up becoming way more than this limiting position.

The fact that his romance with Carla became serious quite quickly in the show meant that the writers could explore more interesting avenues with him. Instead of focussing on the overdone "Will they? Won't they?" cliché, he was able to look at the problems which face married couples and fathers through a comedic lens. This helped to make the character feel grown and developed.

However, Turk also captured all of the energy and humour required of a leading sit-com figure as his comedy relied not only on his goofiness but his popularity, as Turk had an additional cool factor which JD certainly did not.
