Once upon a time, the Sokovia Accords tore the Marvel Cinematic Universe in half. General Ross’ idea to handcuff the Avengers essentially split the team in two, with Tony Stark and Steve Rogers not speaking to each other again until after their defeat at the hands of Thanos.

Though Ross tried to have Captain America arrested during Infinity War, after the events of the conclusion of the Infinity Saga there have been some questions surrounding the Accords. They were confirmed to still be relevant during WandaVision, but no one seemed to mind that Sam Wilson acted without their approval just months later.

Did Thanos’ sudden attack on Earth prove that such red tape was a bad idea? Potentially so, as during the hot debate over the private identities of superheroes, Matt Murdock revealed that the Sokovia Accords have been repealed.

This is good news for MCU fans everywhere. While the Accords played their part in the Infinity Saga, keeping them in place moving forward would only cause problems and issues that not every movie or TV series should have to tackle.
