She-Hulk: Attorney At Law Episode Five Review - 6 Ups & 3 Downs

1. Up - A Huge Tease

She Hulk Credits
Marvel Studios

There have been some wonderful references throughout She-Hulk, some of which were so blink-and-you’ll-miss-it, but could potentially have such a huge impact on the MCU. Both Tiamut’s emergence from the centre of the Earth and Wolverine himself have been referenced, but that’s not all.

In the episode itself, Pug asked Nikki to come with him to get two pairs of the new Iron Man Three shoes. Though the scene wasn’t seen in the show itself, the credits depicted Pug with his new sneakers in front of a background full of other versions of the same shoe. There was a Captain America version, a Spider-Man version, the Hulk, Captain Marvel, and more.

However, though these were a fun nod to the heroes of the MCU, there were three pairs that referenced characters not yet introduced into the franchise. To the right of Nikki’s head was a pair very clearly modelled after Deadpool’s red and black mask, while to the left of her shoulder was a pair boasting the aesthetic of another mutant, Cyclops.

Add in the first reference to the Fantastic Four with the Thing’s sneakers, and it begs the question, are these heroes all already in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and worthy of selling merch? Or is this just a fun tease that fans could potentially read too much into?
