She-Hulk: Attorney At Law Episode Two Review - 7 Ups And 4 Downs
Continuing the strong start to MCU life made by Jennifer Walters.
The weeks just drag when there’s an MCU series coming out on Disney+ don’t they? Netflix at least has the good grace and decency to drop an entire series at once, but the House of Mouse seem intent on making us agonisingly wait for the next instalment.
At the very least it gives fans a chance to process everything from the previous episode, have a think about what’s to come, and get excited. Knowing that there are seven whole days until the next instalment, you can actually appreciate very episode individually.
The second episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, 'Superhuman Law' picked up essentially where the first episode dropped off, and continued building on much of the foundations that had been laid down.
After the tone was set last week you could say that episode two was largely what you might have expected, but even so there were still some surprises, some let downs, some potentially MCU altering moments and of course some missed opportunities. A lot of 'Superhuman Law' was great, but as with any TV show, it wasn’t without its flaws...
11. Down - It Was Even Shorter Than Episode One
Episode two unfortunately demonstrated several of the same drawbacks as the pilot one week earlier, like the somewhat hit and miss humour. A joke about the best toilet to poop in may have fallen flat on its face, but the one Down from last week that actually got worse was the show’s run time.
'A Normal Amount of Rage' clocked in at around 30 minutes before the credits began to roll. This felt extremely short and the conclusion of the episode was painfully rushed. Though you could have expected that this would be the standard for the series, 'Superhuman Law' was actually shorter.
In just 23 minutes the episode was over. Just as you were getting truly into it, the credits began to roll on what felt like a half episode. Granted, the first season will consist of nine episodes where other MCU series, with the exception of WandaVision and What If…?, have only been six, but it wouldn’t be unreasonable to feel short-changed here.
Fans have waited all week for a follow up to the excellent first episode, and in the blink of an eye it’s over.
