There have been several occasions in recent years where the MCU has brought back previous villains who haven’t exactly been quite the same as they were the first time around. Ronan the Accuser and Baron Zemo came back a shell of their villainous selves, and you could say the same thing about Emil Blonsky.

14 years after first turning himself into the Abomination, Tim Roth’s Blonsky returned to MCU screens as a very different character in She-Hulk. He only turned into the Abomination twice, and there is no denying that the monstrous beast just didn’t suit the calm demeanor and speaking voice of Tim Roth.

However, if you focus on Blonsky himself rather than the Abomination, you can enjoy a fantastic character brought to life by a fantastic actor. Tim Roth really brought his comedic chops to She-Hulk, and his chemistry with Tatiana Maslany was undeniable.

As much as you can complain that he was different this time around, what character wouldn’t be after so many years incarcerated? Different isn’t always a bad thing, and that is absolutely true of Emil Blonsky’s return to the franchise. He could be a real asset to Marvel Studios moving forward if used properly.
