12. A Bigger Role For Mycroft

When Sherlock began, the showmakers took liberties with the character of Sherlock's brother Mycroft by making him of slim build rather than the decidedly plumper version from the original stories. That said, there were heavy hints that Mycroft had suffered from weight problems in the past. Well, now we're back in the past and indeed Mycroft is, as he puts it, "increased." He still possesses his smarts, however, and even has a bet with Sherlock over how long he has left to live. Sherlockians might have anticipated that Moffat and Gatiss would portray a more traditional Mycroft this time around, but the sight of Mark Gatiss in a fat suit guzzling down plum puddings is not something you can prepare yourself for or forget in a hurry.
