6. Bart vs Australia

Bartvs Banned in China and restricted in Venezuela, the Simpsons has rubbed a number of countries up the wrong way over the years, least of all Australia. In the 1995 episode 'Bart vs Australia', our favourite yellow family go 'down under' but, due to Bart's notorious antics, aren't exactly warmly received by its countrymen. Depicting Australia as a backward nation ruled by the descendants of convicts, this episode didn't sit well with the Ozzies, who felt it made a mockery of their country. In the immediate aftermath of the episode's airing, reports claimed the Simpsons staff received over 100 letters from Australians who were insulted by the episode. A long-serving writer on the Simpsons, Mike Reiss, even said in 2007 that the show was "condemned in the Australian Parliament" after the episode.
