The Simpsons: 5 Reasons Why Sideshow Bob Needs To Die
3. He's Turning The Simpsons Into A Cliche
Sideshow Bob is the 'Dick Dastardly' of animation. He will conjure up some elaborate scheme to get his evil way, only to be foiled somehow - and the constant thwarting of Bob's plans is turning the Simpsons into something of a cliche. You've all seen the old 90s action movies, where the heroes save the day as the villains deliver long soliloquies as they vanish into the back of a police van in handcuffs. That's what the Sideshow Bob episodes on the Simpsons have become - cheesy. And the puzzling thing is, the show's writers probably know this, yet refuse to do anything about it. How many more times can we watch Bob attempt to commit an act of utter destruction - such as flying a plane into a civil defence shed (Sideshow Bob's Last Gleaming), only for the plane to bounce harmlessly off the shack - before it stops being funny? I'd argue that time has already come.
